PCR automation
For a laboratory performing high-throughput routine food analyses by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), PCR automation (i. e. automated sample preparation and PCR setup) is key to greater efficiency. Manual DNA isolation and purification can be very laborious if many samples have to be prepared per day for a subsequent food analysis by PCR. Automation of sample preparation and PCR setup drastically reduces hands-on-time, generates highly reproducible results and minimizes pipetting errors.BIOTECON Diagnostics is currently validating the foodproof® RoboPrep+ Series. This new product line comprises a number of robotic systems intended for automated sample preparation and PCR setup in a food lab carrying out high-throughput pathogen analyses. A fully automated process with no manual handling steps is thus available for sample preparation and PCR setup of up to 96 samples in a single run.
For these high-tech PCR automation platforms, a new food sample preparation kit has been developed which is based on magnetic beads for DNA purification. Of course, BIOTECON Diagnostics also provides the corresponding foodproof® Detection Kits for pathogen detection, thus offering a complete solution for PCR automation.
